President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order officially establishing a "Strategic Bitcoin Reserve" along with a reserve for other digital assets. Funding the Reserve
The reserve will be funded primarily with cryptocurrencies confiscated in criminal and civil proceedings, meaning that no direct budgetary funds will be allocated for purchasing new bitcoins. David Sacks, who serves as the White House’s "crypto czar," stated that the federal government does not intend to actively acquire cryptocurrencies on the open market but will instead accumulate assets seized from illicit activities.

It is estimated that the U.S. government currently holds around 200,000 bitcoins from previous seizures, which are valued at approximately $17 billion.
